Passing of a good man

As you all know, Pope John Paul II passed away on Sunday morning. Being half a Catholic (baptised but never confirmed), I felt that its quite a loss. He is like this celebrity grandfather figure that I didn't know. For one thing, he is almost the same age as my grandpa and both are ardent Catholics. During the memorial mass, we were told to rejoice for him as he will be going to his place in heaven, but its like really difficult to rejoice loh.

It brought back memories of my grandfather's funeral where the Father told us the same thing that time. It was really quite emotional as I loved my grandpa very much and the thought of it brought mist to my eyes. *sniff sniff* Back to the Pope, I'm sure that he is a nice guy that both Catholics and non-Catholics liked, and I really hope that he went to a place where he can find peace and rest well. 26 years sure is a long time to stay in the same job. He deserves a good rest after a job well done, and I'm sure that his successor will have a very very hard time trying to fill in his shoes.

With this, as a half-Catholic, I sincerely pray that my grandpa and the Pope can become good buddies up in heaven, and help me reserve a place (hopefully) when I decide to take my well deserved break.
