Weekend, lao lang style

Another week(end) has passed, and it's back to work once again. Allow me to fulfil my responsibility to show off what we did during this weekend hor. not very good to keep asking ah mi to write abt weekends :P

Let me see... weekends are supposed to start on Friday nights, right? We went to our usual hideout, the bestest, fantasticest and wonderfulest mall in Singapore, Vivocity, for dinner. Before dinner, we went to the newly opened Love & Co to have a look at the wedding band collection there. As it is a specialty shop selling mostly wedding bands, the variety available there was quite wide. we were very sua ku cos it's the first time that we had gone to look at wedding bands. *blush* anyway, the girl serving us was very helpful and patient to us and we managed to shortlist 3 pairs of bands. 1 white + rose gold combination, 1 white gold design and 1 platinum + rose gold design. platinum rings are more expensive than the rest though. ( i think cos platinum weapons are +3 in AD&D bah :P) for me, it was an interesting experience, cos i had never tried on rings before and i was kinda not used to having a ring on my finger.. they are used to being naked le... wahahahaha!

I went for my (very early) morning swim on Saturday, and there was already a crowd there le!!! i din noe that normal human beings wake up so early on sat mornings.. so as i was doing my laps, i had to siam left and right thru the human traffic in the pool, and occasionally tread water in the middle of the pool cos some buggers want to swim across.. it was like a good analogy of the overcrowding situation in Singapore. Mental note: go earlier next time!

Went to ah mi's place after that to smell the weird smell in her room. the stench was quite strong and smells abit like decomposition. sigh.. she very poor thing.. has to live with not only puchis (roaches) and pigeons tap dancing on her ceiling, but rotting dead birds too.. (that's my guess lah) anyway, i dun think it's very healthy for her to sleep in her room while a bird carries on to decompose in her roof, so she will need to sleep elsewhere again.. sigh.. had lunch at west coast market, and picked up 3 sets of cd player to lug to ah mi's office. talk about working on a sat, huh? So anyway, we lugged the players over to her office and went back to her place to get ready to go out. ah mi specially prepared a mini pillow for my back for movies as we are going to catch "The Leap Years" that evening, i felt even more like a lao lang.. but the pillow really helps lah..

We caught the movie at Cathay Cineleisure, and it was really a very 小混混 place with many many many youngsters there. I actually bumped into someone i know there, so i guess that makes me a 小混混 too huh? the movie was actually better than i expected. I thought Wong Liling was quite convincing as a woman who waited to meet a guy every 4 years, and you can see her maturing throughout the years. The guy actor (Orlando Bloom wannabe), was a bit lacking in that aspect. he looks the same throughout the 12 years, with the same hippy long hair. one interesting thing about this movie is that the entire movie is based on only 5 days of her life. and with only 5 days, Catherine Lim manages to map out an entire love story. very impressive...

however, the deepest impression that i had with the movie is the groom who was deserted at the altar (or rather chinese wedding dinner). why is it so that usually it's the guys who get left behind, because the gals had a sudden waking up of her idea on who is her one true love at the end. i admit that it's a very romantic notion, but pls spare a thought for the other guy also loh. y in the first place do u get married when you are unsure?! i kinda sympathise with that poor dumb guy left standing there dumbly saying "Go now.... before i change my mind." it's all good and noble, but do u think he has any say in the matter?
*imagined dialogue*
Raymond: Go now.... before i change my mind.
*Lee-Ann spends 5 seconds crying away*
Raymond: Ok, I changed my mind! You have to marry me!
Lee-Ann: Oh Raymond, my dear....
Raymond: (hopefully)Yes, Lee-Ann?
Lee-Ann: Do you really think I give a damn about what you think?
Raymond:......
*end imagined dialogue*
anyway, it was quite a good movie in my opinion as a guy.. (damn, i'm becoming a softie...)
Dinner after that was at a korean/japanese outlet at the basement of cathay cineleisure. they had quite nice tak kal bee wannabe dishes there, and not too pricey too. however, the thing is, halfway thru our dinner, i suddenly realised that we were the oldest customers there.. I'm sure that the other people there is less than 23 years old loh.. we are 2 lao langs at a 小混混 place... sigh...

Sunday was a very relaxing day, where we went to the National Singapore Museum (what do u expect, we are lao langs) and we saw a huge..... statue of Michelangelo's David (nude!) inside.. i haven't been to the museum for quite some time and it is very different already, with lots of empty spaces (wasted space, can build flats here u noe?) and new galleries.. the thing is, we gone in and were out in less than an hour, and after we came out, we realised that we did not visit the Greek exhibits (weee!!! more nude statues!).. but at that time, it was too late to go in again.. so that was it for our historical trip..

We had dinner at the Marche style japanese restaurant at the basement of Raffles city.. there was no long queue that day, so mai tu liao! there was quite a lot of different japanese food to choose from, but i kinda realised that most of them have eggs or unagi in them.. so i can safely declare that japanese cuisine is based on eggs and unagi! hahahaha.. we had ramen, fried rice and a japanese omelette.. how to put this, we are not very adventurous lah.. hahaha..
and with this, we end our weekend.. it may seem like a boring way to spend the weekend (go to the museum?!? are u kidding?!?) but for lao langs like us, it is more than enough.. between my broken back and her broken stomach, i think we make a perfect pair... ;P
Pete out.
P.S: ah mi will proofread this entry for grammatical and spelling mistakes, so this will not be the final draft.
P.P.S: however, my ang mor is not that bad, so maybe there won't be too much changes.
P.P.P.S: then again she is very very strict one, so.... sigh.... :P
P.P.P.P.S: proof-reading for the glaring mistakes are completed, only 14 changes are made. :D
