What Now...

Pete discovered some droppings at our new place when he brought his friends over to view the flat a few weeks back. We suspected they were rat droppings, and got ourself a pretty rat trap from Daiso. Trust me when I say it is pretty...

The rat trap - like a pretty little cardboard house, with printed windows

We placed some dried cuttlefish inside the house, hoping to lure the rat/rats in. It/they will get stuck on the sticky pad inside the "house", and Pete will then carry the little house by its handle and dispose of it. That was our grand plan: catch the rat/rats, take some pictures, and post them up here.

Alas, week after week we went back, but there was no rat in sight. But...there were more droppings, directly below the holes where the lights are supposed to be installed on the living room ceiling. Since we could catch no rat, we bought ourselves a can of Baygon on Saturday. Well, if we can't trap the rat/rats, or whatever it/they may be, we will have to settle for the next best alternative of spraying insecticide up the holes on the ceiling.

And so...that was what we did. The "culprit" actually reacted to the spray, and struggled to escape through the hole, amidst the wires. At first, Pete announced it was just a beetle. Seconds later, it struggled a little more, exposing more of itself, and to my horror, Pete said, "It's a bat." A bat?! So now the holes in our ceiling are bat caves?? I was terrified of bats, and went to hide in the room. Pete saw it struggle a little more, before it flew out of the windows.

We went back yesterday and stuffed all the holes in the ceiling with paper. No more bat caves, no no.

I'm just thinking...is it just me? Cockroaches, pigeons, and now...bats?
