Bit By Bit...

Having been involved in my cousin Sharon's wedding last Sunday, and seeing her bustle through it, and witnessing some of the tension, it was a wake-up call for myself to start preparing time-lines and be well organised and prepared for our big day next September. This is just to minimise headaches and tension as much as possible, because we know there will be much of it nearer the big day. Oh hack, it's actually already starting, the conflicts with parents and all...

With that, Pete and I made a decision this week with regards to our wedding videographer, the last of our major vendor decisions. We did not plan for one at first, but decided to go ahead with it, and signed up with Forest Productions yesterday.

So now,

Videographer - checked
Church Wedding - Still in negotiations

So, bit by bit, we are trying to get the major decisions made, so that we can inch our way through the details leading up to our big day. Hopefully, we will have a tedious, but fun process :)

Reviewing reviews

First and foremost, I have to say I have nothing against the iPhone. It is really an excellent phone and I would love to have it if given the chance.

However, you really admit that it is the most over hyped device EVER!! Nowadays, whenever I read about any phone reviews or articles, the iPhone always pops up, one way or the other. It is even worse when the phone being reviewed is a touch screen phone (like mine), the reviewed phone is always scrutinized as the "iPhone killer wannabe", then criticized badly as to why it cannot be the "iPhone killer".

While I admit that iPhone is a great phone, I don't understand why reviewers keep putting down other phones to put the iPhone on the pedestal. And most of time (actually all of the time), the phones are not even running the same OS as the iPhone. So why compare an apple and an orange when they are of two totally different categories.

Anyway, if this trend carries on, we should be seeing reviews like this:

============================================
Bugis Street Chicken Rice

This chicken rice stall have been around for at least 20 years, and the recipe has been passed down from father to son, where young Mr Lee has taken over the stall for 5 years now.

While the chicken is tender and smooth, it is not quite as smooth as the interface of the iPhone. The look and feel of the chicken rice layout is not as comprehensive as the iPhone icons, and in my opinion, this iPhone killer wannabe loses out to the Cupertino jewel by miles.

Trust me, if you really need to get something now, get the iPhone, you definitely won't regret it. It is much better than the Bugis Street Chicken Rice and a lot more value for money!

Rating: Chicken rice - 3 stars out of 5
iPhone - 7 stars out of 5 !!!

============================================

I admit, it is a little exaggerated la, but this is really the trend now. Reviewers comparing everything to the iPhone just to jump on the current hype. *Hey mum, look! My review mentioned iPhone!* I feel very disgusted when I read this kind of articles.

Please don't get me wrong when you read this, I am not bashing the iPhone. I'm just bashing the reviews and articles that, for no apparent reasons, compare it with the iPhone and end up bashing the product that the article or review is highlighting. It then becomes another iPhone worshipping piece of article.

I think we have enough iPhone articles already, so please lay off the iPhone comparisons before we all OD on it. If we want to read about iPhone, we will go read the articles that ARE ABOUT the iPhone ourselves. No need to shove it in our face every time we read a product review.

Offending articles:
HTC Diamond impressions
Omnia not going to kill ianything
HTC Touch hands on
And finally the review from Today which I wrote about

Now to appease my anger, please send me an iPhone so I can write a review on it. ;P
